Dust II Bomb Explosion Radius Increased After Latest CS2 Update
After the latest update, players noticed that the bomb explosion radius on Dust II has become significantly larger. Now the usual positions for saving or holding sites are much more dangerous than before.
When planting the bomb at B site in the standard spot near the box, death is guaranteed not only for those hiding behind the car but also for players in the tunnel corner at the exit. Even in deeper positions the damage remains significant: around 38 HP deep inside the tunnel and 26 from the deep CT position.
At A site the situation looks even more critical. If planted “for long,” standing at the corner of long can deal nearly fatal 98 damage. In Cat Cubby it’s 64, at mid doors it’s 44, and even at the exit of long the explosion does up to 32 damage. In pit, which was previously considered completely safe, players now also take damage — up to 7.
The most striking example is holding “under pit”: the explosion kills everyone standing at the corner of long, and the damage in nearby positions reaches 40 and above.
What to Do If Counter-Strike 2 Won't Launch
Dust II has always remained one of the most popular maps both in matchmaking and on the professional scene. If the increased radius is indeed part of the new update and not a bug, this could seriously change the dynamics of matches. Teams will have to reconsider their usual saving and retake positions, which could very well lead to new meta strategies on the legendary map.
